Elkhart Lake - view from the Victorian Village
Oh the lazy days of summer. Well I am not sure how lazy they have been for me, but I have slowed somethings down, and my blog sad to say has been one of them. I am not quite sure why it has been hard for me to keep up with my blogging this summer, but it seems like it has been forever since my last entry. Maybe it is having two kids home for the summer and the feeling of winging it each day. I got to have a bit of a routine when my oldest went to summer camp for 5 weeks, but that seemed to fly by.
So, what have I been doing. Our property takes lots of time (more then what we actually have), I seemed to have been able to combine exercise with push mowing parts of our property-killing two birds with one stone. We always enjoy company over the summertime and family members have been floating in and out vacationing at our house all summer. I try to get some work done when they are here, but I do not want to be rude and be on the computer the whole time. It is also such a limited time that we all get to enjoy each other since we are all spread out throughout the country that I do not want to miss in any of the great memories.
What else....It has taken a long and time consuming effort to clean up the mess as seen in the last post, of the tree's that my husband took down - we have been playing lots of pick up sticks. The girls and I have spent lots of afternoons at Elkhart Lake. As the picture above shows it is just such a beautiful lake and so much fun to go and relax at. We are really blessed to have something so lovely so close to home. We have also squeezed in lots of playtime at the park and zoo. We have run through the sprinklers, cooked out in the backyard and have gone on many rides around our property. We have sat on our front porch and literally looked out across the street and watched the corn grow.
Summer of course is flying by. We are doing kindergarten registration this week and we are starting to think ahead to the fall. I am still very, very busy with the Farmer's Market and most of my evening are spent making cards. I have lots going on there, but that will be for another blog post!
I am not sure why August seems to be such a month of transition where the focus on season's begins to shift. However, there is not a cloud in the sky right now and it is supposed to be 90 degrees, so I think it is time to get off the computer, put our swim suits on and head to the lake.
AHH....summertime.
